Alzheimer's Treatment - 7/20/2008
by Robin Miller, MD

Is There Anything New for the Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease?

A study recently completed in Holland has found that brightening the lights during the day either by exposure to sunshine or adding fluorescent lights can help depression and functions of daily living in those with Alzheimers disease. They also gave their patients a small dose of melatonin that helped to set the bodys clock. The treatment worked about as well as the drugs used to treat Alzheimers disease. (Note: Melatonin is relatively safe however, before trying or giving melatonin it is important to check with your doctor or the doctor of the person you want to give it to!)
